dusk – Shanghai

2006
Online e-say (the ninth in my e-say series). dusk had a digital iteration with an e-say in London and one in Shanghai. This e-say was made during a residency in China supported by the British Council's Artist Links Programme 2002–06. In 2005 I visited Shanghai hosted by BizArt. dusk was released the following year in 2006 to tie in with my dusk performances. 'Michael Atavar works with digital materials and draws on live practice, technology, text, visual art and audio. In Shanghai Atavar gathered materials for a web-based work entitled dusk. This treats the subject of light and its impact on the individual unconscious. He has used mental, physical and spiritual journeying techniques alongside tools such as the Yi-Ching to develop the work.'
